Women's and Children's Hospital

When the Walt Disney Company built a hospital in its new prototype community, Celebration, it partnered with Florida Hospital, a part of the Adventist Health System.

Because of its reputation for excellence, innovation and commitment to health, Florida Hospital sought an art program supportive of its image as a leader in health and wellness. It was also imperative that the art reflect the beliefs of the creation-based Seventh Day Adventist Church. Themes running through the art include trust in a Divine Power, rest and relaxation, our environment and the natural world, physical activity and good nutrition.

The collection of 600+ original photographs includes works by masters such as Ernest Haas, Joel Meyerwitz, and Clyde Butcher, as well as a number of mid-career and younger photographers. In addition to patient areas, art is placed in all public spaces including two special viewing galleries. The art program at Celebration is cited as an exemplary project by the Center for Health Design and the Symposium on Healthcare Design.
