Women's and Children's Hospital

Reflecting the Seventh Day Adventists' worldwide mission to heal and to teach, the art collection is a universal look at childhood and the world of nature. A theme of discovery running through the art offers not only an opportunity for learning, but also an effective distraction from the reality of the clinical environment.

The art program features colorful native textiles and nurturing images of animals in original photographs on the patient units. Vintage and contemporary photographs portraying children around the world are used in public and staff areas.

In the main lobby, children are delighted to follow animal tracks on the floor and find bas relief sculpture of indigenous California animals hidden behind architectural elements.
